Welcome Yarn-y friends! I’m so glad you’re here.

A little about me

I’m Amanda White and I’m the hustler and bustle-r of this craft site. I am a mother to two energetic boys (ages 3 and 6), wife to one cowboy boot-wearing sports fan, and a fan-girl of everything from Nintendo to Star Wars to My Little Ponies and much, much more. By day, I’m a code slinging analyst at a local university. By night, I’m a food-slinging mama and reader of bedtime stories. Between work and mom life, I find my sanity in yarn and crafts.

As far back as I can remember, I’ve always had the joy and passion of being artsy and getting creative with a wide assortment of tools. In grade school, I especially loved drawing. In middle school and high school, I took my share of creative art classes where I learned how to paint, do digital design, make pottery, sew, cook and create some rudimentary projects in metal and wood shop. It wasn’t until a trip to a friend’s house as a teenager that my world opened up to the art of crochet. I had her teach me some basic stitches and since then, I have literally been hooked!

I created Yarnanigans as a place to share my crazy yarn and craft shenanigans with you. I hope you’ll find something amazing to try for yourself, learn a new technique, make a gift for friends or loved ones, or draw some inspiration for your own creativity. Mostly, I love to teach others how to have fun with yarn and I’ll be posting videos and tutorials to help crocheters (and soon knitters) improve their skills. If there’s something you’d like to see on the blog, feel free to contact me — I’d love to get your thoughts and ideas!

Lastly, if you’re so inclined to visit, I also share recipes, DIY projects, and other crafty things on my original blog WallflowerGal

All the Best!
